Having whiter teeth is the number one aesthetic concern of most patients. That's because everyone's teeth darken over time. Coffee, cola, tea, smoking, and even some medications can stain and discolor the enamel surface, darkening your teeth. Fortunately, today there are easy ways that can return your smile to its whiter, brighter, more youthful appearance.
Dentist-supervised teeth whitening is a simple, non-invasive procedure that can be done at home, on your own time after a short office visit. First, Dr. Morrison will take dental impressions to create customized molds that will hold the gel against your teeth. After testing their fit, you’ll take home special whitening gel. You'll wear your molds for a short period of time each day, or overnight—depending on the degree of staining and the desired level of whitening.
A dentist-supervised teeth whitening treatment is faster and produces greater changes than an over-the-counter treatment can. You'll get the results you hope for, and avoid problems that can occur due to the sensitivity of your teeth and gums that sometimes occur with store-bought kits. Teeth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed every several years, and more often if you smoke, drink coffee, tea, or wine to keep your smile bright. Our office can provide additional whitening gel for you to use on these occasions.
